Puma Investments continues growth with two senior appointments

Puma Investments is pleased to announce that it has made two senior appointments to strengthen its AIM capabilities and Product.

Puma’s AIM team is strengthened with the appointment of Daniel Cane as Investment Director. Daniel joins from Toscafund Asset Management, where he spent 16 years with a particular emphasis on small and mid-cap companies and was part of the AIM-focused Toscafund Microcap Fund investment team. Daniel also worked at HSBC where he analysed the retail sector and prior to that he was a paper and packaging analyst at ABN AMRO (ranked 2nd in Extel Surveys). Puma’s AIM investment team now has a collective track record of over 50 years of investing in AIM.

James Ramsay also joins as Head of Investment Product Management responsible for overseeing and monitoring Puma’s investment products in addition to implementing new product launches. He returns to Puma having worked at the company from 2013 to 2016. More recently he worked at Apex Allenbridge, an independent reviewer in the tax efficient space, producing research and consulting for a number of the industry’s largest wealth managers. His previous experience includes working at tax efficient managers Ingenious Media and Blackfinch Investments.

A comment from us

I’m delighted to welcome Daniel and James to Puma. Firstly, having recently launched the Puma AIM VCT, the first in the market for 17 years, Daniel brings a wealth of experience to the existing AIM investment team as we support this and the Puma AIM IHT Portfolio Service. Welcoming James back to the team as Head of Investment Product Management means we can enhance our existing offering and do more to support our adviser partners and the end investor. “Their appointments reflect the significant growth of our business in recent years and I’m looking forward to working with them both.

David Kaye, CEO of Puma Investments

“I am delighted to have joined Puma which has an excellent culture of developing and managing relevant products for the benefit of its clients.

Drawing on my extensive experience of investing in AIM listed companies and that of my colleagues Dr. Stuart Rollason and Joseph Cornwall, I look forward to working with them and the wider Puma team.

AIM provides an opportunity for investors to access dynamic and high-growth companies and given the current environment of depressed valuations, there is real potential for positive investor returns.”

Daniel Cane, Investment Director, Puma Investments

“I am thrilled to be rejoining the Puma team. In intervening roles and in my capacity as an Independent Analyst, I have been monitoring the Group’s development closely and have been incredibly impressed with its growth and enhancements to its range of tax-efficient products.

“What really stands out is that, while many aspects of the products I launched have improved since I was last here, many of the core investment criteria have remained consistent. Specialisation is important and Puma’s active management in the fields it knows well has got even stronger with its now much larger investment teams and support functions. I look forward to combining my experience of analysing so many of the industry’s products and working with some of the most sophisticated advisers in this space, to help Puma further enhance their products to the mutual benefit of investors, advisers and the firm.”
